A latent TB test will involve a quick blood test and a few simple questions. The test if offered to patients who:
- are 16-35 years of age
- were born or spent > 6 months in high TB incidence country
- entered the UK within the last 5 years
- have no history of TB either treated or untreated
- have never screened for TB in the UK
What is TB (tuberculosis)?
TB is an illness cause by airborne bacteria (germs). TB bacteria can sleep in your body, often for many years, without making you ill. This is called latent TB.
